Day 4 started with a plan to network and hunt for job opportunities while continuing to build on the projects I’ve been working on. Although the day began with some uncertainty, particularly about reaching out to people on a Friday afternoon, I decided to push through. What followed were a series of incredible, unexpected moments of insight and help that felt like divine intervention.
Networking Efforts
Despite my initial worries that contacting businesses right before the weekend might not be well-received, I was met with kindness and generosity from everyone I spoke with. Some of the conversations lasted longer than I anticipated, and many of the people I talked to went out of their way to offer information and guidance I hadn’t even asked for. It was as if God was working through these individuals to provide exactly what I needed in ways I didn’t expect. These interactions were truly mind-blowing and served as powerful reminders that help can come from unexpected places.
I reached out to eight sign and print shops, and one of them looks promising for part-time work. Similarly, I contacted nine web and graphic design businesses, and again, there’s one hopeful lead for part-time work. The connections I made felt divinely orchestrated, reinforcing the importance of taking action, even when doubts creep in.
The Business Listings Idea
One of the unexpected highlights of the day was a conversation with a man who suggested a new revenue stream for my other website. He proposed adding business listings through a plugin and charging a small fee—something like $20 per listing. This idea was a revelation. It could kickstart the map functionality I’ve been considering, especially since I haven’t heard back from another directory site I recently contacted. The concept of creating a business directory, complete with geodata and possibly reviews, aligns perfectly with the site’s purpose and could bring in some much-needed income.
Intrigued by the idea, I spent part of the evening looking into powerful plugins that could handle geodata, listings, and reviews. To make the process smoother, I’m now turning to ChatGPT to help identify which plugins to explore first, ensuring I find the best options available. This new avenue seems promising and could become a key feature of the site as it evolves.
Progress on Do The Site
In addition to the networking and idea generation, I also made some progress here on Do The Site. I unearthed some old writeups that I had set aside and posted them to the empty sub-categories. It was satisfying to see those sections come to life with content. I also managed to complete and post the Day 3 write-up, which was another win for the day.
Unfinished Tasks
Of course, not everything went according to plan. I didn’t get around to reorganizing or doing the necessary research for my other site, but that’s okay. Those tasks are still on the agenda, and I’ll tackle them in the coming days. The important thing is that Day 4 brought new opportunities and reinforced the value of taking action, even when doubts creep in.
